On December 26, 1776, a battle broke out between the Patriots and British in New Jersey. Washington decided to attack because he was losing his army and needed to take a big chance.
On January 3, 1777, another battle between the British and Patriots happened in New Jersey. The Patriots had won the battle and save the Revolution.
In the fall of 1777, the British decided that they wanted a victory, so they decided to roam through New York. Once they got to Saratoga, they found themselves surrounded by the Patriots. General John Burgoyne had to surrender, making it the Patriots greatest victory.
During the winter in Valley Forge(December 1777), there weren't any battles but it brings memories of great suffering. Washington´s men lacked even the most basic protections against the snow. About 2,000 people had died from disease and malnutrition.
