  • Human trafficking is defined as sex trafficking in which a commercial sex act is induced by force, fraud, or coercion, or in which the person induced to perform such an act has not attained 18 years of age. Human trafficking can also be defined as the recruitment, harboring, transportation, provision, or obtaining of a person for labor services, through the use of force, fraud, or coercion for the purpose of subjection to involuntary servitude, peonage, debt bondage or slavery
  • 600,000 to 800,000 women and children are bought and sold across international borders every year and exploited for forced labor or commercial sex
  • The number of victims annually when you add international victims comes to 2 to 4 million annually, 50% of which are children.
  • there are a lot of organizations that donate money to victims and to help them and also who help to find people who are being sex trafficked.
  • A very largely known organization that focuses on Human Trafficking is called the Polaris Project.
  • The polaris Project is a non profit, non-governmental organization that works to combat and prevent modern-day slavery and human trafficking. For the past 10 years, Polaris has run the National Human Trafficking Hotline, working on some 40,000 cases of trafficking.
