Sasha is awaken by his Guardian Angel. Sasha along with the other prisoners have been tortured, and starved in a Jewish Cellar. After many days being trapped in complete darkness, SS Officers enter the cellar. They explain that they are moving to a Ghetto.
The prisoners evacuate the Cellar and walk on foot towards a transport train. On the way, Sasha meets up with a friendly Jew. They both talk to each other for a little bit. Meanwhile, the officers whip, and shoot many of the Jews.
Sasha, and the rest of the prisoners arrive at their destination. Officers sort each group of Jews into a really cramped and crowded Boxcar. Sasha and his friend just so happen to be in the same box car.
Sasha and his friend happen to be in the same crowded box car. They talk, and Sasha learns that his friend's name is Shlomo. After getting to know each other, Schlomo wants know about Sasha's Militaristic Past. Sasha's guardian angel reads Sasha's diary entries and tells about his story instead.
Sasha, Shlomo, and the other prisoners finally get off the box car. The SS Officers escort the Prisoners to a temporary Camp, until they arrive at Sobibor. Older Jews in the barracks explain and tell the horrors they experienced at Sobibor. Sasha is so afraid, that he couldn't sleep that night. Shlomo starts to give up hope, but Sasha says to him he needs to have hope.
Throughout the story, Shlomo and many others have been wanting to give up hope. They've all wanted death to embrace them. Sasha stays confident, and encourages Shlomo to stay strong and hopeful. The theme is "No matter how hard situations are. it's important to stay strong, and be confident, because your friends will always be there to support you.
