Orpheus was incredible with his lyre so much so that even trees would shade around him just to listen. But he had his eyes out for a nymph named Eurydice. Unfortunately the morning they were to be married Eurydice was killed by a fatal snake bite.
Orpheus was incredibly sad because he knew Eurydice was his true love. For the days he mourned the trees and plants would mourn with him. When he did pick up his lyre again he headed straight for the underworld to retreive his lost love.
The journey to the underworld was far and long. But Orpheus payed no mind and played his lyre the whole way, and when a guardian of the underworld were to be in the way they would step aside because they could see the sadness in his heart
When Orpheus arrived Hades could tell something was wrong. He told him to return to the normal world and and Eurydice would follow. But if he were to look behind him she would return. With this new found hope Orpheus was on his way.
When he came to the surface of the earth he couldn't take it anymore and looked back causing Eurydice to be sent back to the underworld
Orpheus spent the rest of his days tucked away on an island playing his lyre where he later died there.
