Richards older brother who was king revolted against his father and went to France with his brothers. They seeked help from Louis the seventh. But his brother dropped the revolt and they soon went back to their father
Richards brother then died so he was king, at the start of his rule he was very busy, but then he and Philip the second decided to go to the crusades so he begins to make preparations.
Richard wins many battles against the famous Muslim general, Saladin but he can't capture Jerusalem from him. So, he makes a 3 year truce with him.
Richard gets captured by the Duke of Austria, while he was traveling back home. Later, he was given to the emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, who released him for a big ransom
