When a daughter is born it is a gloomy day for the Pashtuns, but Malala’s dad knew there was something special about her. She was named after the Malalai of Maiwand, the greatest heroine of Afghanistan.
  • The Day Her World Changed
  • Who is Malala?!?!
  • When Malala was born her family was poor. They lived in a shabby shack of two rooms. 2 years after she was born her brother Khushal was born. 5 years later another boy was born and his name was Atal. Malala mostly played with Khushal because they were closer in age.

  • Many people living in the same area as Malala never had the opportunity to get an education, but Malala was very lucky because she had the opportunity to go to school and learn with her friends. • On Tuesday, October 9th 2012, Malala started her day off normally. She walked to her bus stop that would take her to school, but she and her family have been getting threats all year, so everyday she walked to her stop cautiously. That day when she got on the bus they were stopped by a guy and one guy hopped on the bus and shot Malala.
  • After she was shot she went to a hospital in Peshwar, Pakistan. Her thinnest bone in her skull was shattered by the bullet. The doctors did not know if she would survive. After this happened she was known to be a icon for many others around the world because she stood up for what she believed in.
  • Malala won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014. She was awarded for her hard work as an activist for female education. She was the youngest person to win this prize. Now she lives in Birmingham, England with her family.
