Storyboard Text

  • The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is where an estimated 1.8 trillion pieces of garbage exist...
  • A million seabirds and 10,000 sea animals are killed each year because of all this trash.
  • Humans can also get sick if we eat the fish that are contaminated.
  • Humans are the ones responsible for this. Humans throw trash or litter and some of that trash gets to the Great Pacific Garbage Patch causing the GPGP to grow very large.
  • The main reasons we can´t take the garbage out is the cost and some animals ,the size of some of those micro-plastics, might get taken out of the water and that might hurt the whole ecosystem.
  • We can help by not littering.
  • Also by reusing plastic and recycling.
  • The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is twice the size of Texas. It is located in the northern part of the Pacific Ocean.
  • The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is made up of garbage like old fishing gear, bottle caps, plastic bottles
