#### Storyboard Text

• I want to get a shower but when I walked into the bathroom I heard running water. I wonder if my sister left the water running.
• If we turn of the water I wonder how long it will take for the water to drain.
• Come on, Raven you and I both know that the tub doesn't take forever to drain. I bet we can figure out how long it takes. You'll make it to work, as long as YOU don't take forever in the shower.
• Roxie! You left the water running again! How I'm I supposed to take my shower now? The tub takes forever to drain and I have to leave in 15 minutes!
• Ok whatever you say. Well I'm pretty sure dad said that the tub was 19 gallons- if that's any help.
• It's been like 20 seconds. It looks like the tub as drained some. Maybe like 3 gallons.
• Dad said the tub drains something like 3 gallons in 20 seconds. So now we can figure out how long it will take the tub to drain. you said the tub was 19 gallons right?
• How in the world would you know that?
• So now let's think. If we start out with 19 gallons of water and the tub loses three gallons every 20 seconds that means in 20 seconds there will be 16 gallons left and in fifty seconds there will be 11.5 gallons left and the tub will be completely drained in about 126.7 seconds or just over 2 minutes because after 80 seconds there will 7 gallons left and that means there will be five gallons left in the tub and the tub loses 3 gallons every 20 seconds so in just over 120 seconds the tub will be empty.
• Ok, Roxie. im trusting you on this. that tub better be drained in 2 minutes.
• 2 minutes later
• Ok, Ms.SmartyPants you were right. Now go to school!
• See I told you it would be drained all the way. Now, you'll make it to work on time as long as YOU don't take forever in the shower
