Storyboard Text

  • In many Medieval towns, there was a lot of waste. The filthy conditions allowed the rats to thrive. They spread the plague to the humans who passed it on.
  • Towns hired plague doctors to help with the plague. They were badly trained and actually helped to spread the plague.
  • Many people fled from the plague by leaving the cities and going to the countryside.
  • Nuns and monks worked to help the sick by tending to them and praying. Due to the constant contact, many fell ill to the plague.
  • Plague victims suffered from black buboes located at their armpit and groin, fevers and bleeding from the mouth and nose.
  • Mass burials became commonplace as large numbers of people died to the plague and a funeral couldn’t be held for them all.
