Hi, my name is Evan. And this is how reconstruction was difficult.
Black codes were stressful for the African Americans.
I cant believe that we cant travel freely, and explore.
I also cant believe that we cant own a house, or rent one.
We want them to have the same rights. Impeach him. Yea. Impeach. Rights.
Andrew Johnson was a democratic senator from Tennessee. He came into office after Lincoln was assassinated. He wanted the southern states to rejoin the union without any punishment. And he also thought that no African Americans should have the right to vote.
White League & KKK
We want y'all DEAD!!!
The KKK group was hateful, and brutal towards the African Americans.
The Black codes were rules that limited what the African Americans could do. And it also created tension between the African Americans, and the government.
They wished that the African Americans could have the same rights as other people. They wanted the African Americans to have the rights like every white person does, and they thought it was not fair so they created a reconstruction act. Then later down the road from all of the tension that was created, it lead to a Presidential impeachment.
Compromise of 1877
The reconstruction Era was a time were disputes were reconcile , and the dust was settled.
Settle it in the name of the law!
The Ku Klux Klan was a group of white southerners that was bullying the African American race, and culture. They wanted them dead, and gone.
The Freedmen's Bureau helped the African Americans. They gave them supplies that they needed after the Civil war. It was basically a foundation for them to go get goods they need to help them. It helped the African Americans dramatically.
The Freedmen's Bureau helped the Africans rebuild what they lost from the civil war.
'' Here you go'' the man said. '' Thanks'' said the slave.
The Compromise of 1877 was the part of history that settled the dispute between the 1877 presidential election. Also it marked the end to the Reconstruction Era, and it forced the African Americans to go somewhere else.
