Storyboard Text

  • Natalie just got a message on club penguin! It is from one of her virtual friends, asking if she wants to hang out this weekend. They have never met face to face before, so Natalie decides to ask her mom for her opinion.
  • Of course I would! I can't wait to hang out with them, their Club Penguin account is SO cool!
  • Hey Mom, can I hang out with my friend on Saturday? I met them on Club Penguin, they seem really great!
  • Tell me more about them first. What do you know about them?
  • Well... Their username is flowerkitens123, but she says her real name is Claire, and that she's 15, just like me!
  • That sounds o.k. but just in case, why don't you ask "Claire" to video chat? That way you can make sure that they are who they say they are. If it really is Claire, you also need to make a plan for meeting her.
  • Make sure that wherever you meet her is in a well-lit public area, like the park down the street. Don't get in a car with her, and don't go anywhere other than the place you planned to meet her. Remember, if you need to leave, or if something makes you uncomfortable, you can always make up an excuse to get away. I'll also text or call you about halfway through just to check on you.
  • Wow, that does sound like some great advice! I'll go call her right now, and make sure that everything checks out.
  • Let me know what you figure out!
