Out of Ralph, Jack, and Piggy, Ralph would be the best leader to all the boys
In the story, Ralph was the first to make an effort to have a leader in the first place. Which in the end, he is declared. "Shut up,' said Ralph absently. He lifted the conch. 'Seems to me we ought to have a chief to decide things."
Ralph was also trying to establish rules, too. Such as having to have the conch in order to speak. He even stated “We’ll have rules! Lots of rules!” Which shows he was trying to be as adult as possible in this situation.
Ralph shows leadership by trying to keep kids in order. In the text, he says, “So remember . The rocks for a lavatory. Keep the fire going and smoke as a signal. Don’t take fire from the mountain. Take your food up there." This shows Ralph's motives to keep the island there and clean
Some may say that Jack or piggy would be a good leader. But, out of the three characters, they all, have different motives. Some which may be good leadership qualities and others not so much. With Ralph, he wants to be rescued, keep everyone alive, and just maintain a sense of democracy. Jack, he wants to do nothing but hunt, which may concern me if he was the leader. He may not get things done in terms of rescue, which in the end didn’t even concern him one bit. Piggy is a well rounded (literally) kid. He has a sense of everything, probably the most intellectual kid on the island. Although, Piggy is not respected. This may interfere with him being the leader, the other kids on the island may not listen to him. Considering all of this, the best pick would be Ralph.
In conclusion, Ralph would be the smartest choice to be leader. He wants to be rescued and wants to maintain democracy and order.
