If someone had caught or had died of the plague. Their whole family would be locked away in their house and kept guard over. A red cross would be painted on the door to let people know to stay away. Soon the whole family would be infected and would suffer the same way.
As Winter came, the spread of disease slowed down. From December 1665 people start to return to London and in February 1666 it was safe for the King to return.

It is estimated that over 100,000 people died of the great plague.
