  • I wish for 200 pounds!
  • We are very sorry for your loss. Here is 200 pounds for compensation. 
  • Rising Action (Part 2)
  • I wish for Herbert to come back to life!
  • Knock, knock, knock!
  • It's Herbert!
  • SETTING: The Whites' house in a swampy, damp area. MAIN CHARACTERS: Mr. White, Mrs. White, Herbert White, and Sergeant-Major Morris. INCITING INCIDENT: The monkey's paw shows up.
  • Climax
  • Mr. White keeps the monkey's paw and wishes for two hundred pounds. Later on, Mr. and Mrs. White are told that Herbert passed away and receive a two hundred pound compensation.
  • Falling Action
  • Mr. White wishes Herbert back to life. Then, someone knocks on the front door. Mrs. White runs downstairs and is about to open the door.
  • Resolution
  • Mr. White makes his third wish.
  • The knocking stops and Mrs. White runs out the front door.
  • The street is quiet and deserted.
