- In this scene, Lyddie is taking charge and making sure everyone's safe, and then she is going to deal with the bear. This is person VS nature because in the book she has to protect her family from the bear invading her cabin.
- This is person VS society because Ezekiel is a run-away slave and in this society, slaves are not considered people rather working machines. Ezekiel isn't a slave and he believes no one owns him.
