Storyboard Text

  • T - Tone
  • W - Word Choice
  •                                     I - Imagery
  • Melancholy - this poem expresses people's feelings when Abraham Lincoln and their loved ones died after the civil war.
  • S - Style
  • Sought, exulting, bugle, keel, exult, tread, vessel, grim.
  • T - Theme
  • "...O the bleeding drops of red,  where on the deck my Captain lies, fallen cold and dead." These words help me visualize Lincoln falling while being shot.
  •
  • Repetition because every stanza has "O captain, my captain..."
  • I think the theme is that they are grieving their president Abraham Lincoln's death and that the "ship" was the United States. As in, the whole country was grieving because the war had just ended and that made them happy but their president who helped them through that war had just died.
