- Ponyboy, Dally, Johnny met up and went to the Nightly Double drive-in theatre. At the drive-in, they met two girls named Cherry and Marica. Darry said inappropriate phrases which made the girls uncomfortable.
- chapter 4
- Once the movie was completed, Ponyboy, Johnny, Cherry and Marcia walked to Two-bit’s house. On the way to Ponyboy and Cherry talks about Ponyboy’s brothers and their similarities. After arriving at Two-bit’s house, the group borrowed Two-bit’s car in order to drop Cherry and Marcia home.

- Darry yelled at Ponyboy For coming home late. Their augment got bigger and Darry slapped Ponyboy. Ponyboy got upset and ran out of the house.
- Ponyboy and Johnny went walking beside a fountain at 2:30AM. There was a car that approached them and it was the Socs. When the Socs got out of their car, Ponyboy could tell they were drunk. A Soc grabbed Ponyboy and held his head under the cold water fountain. Johnny took his switchblade out of his pocket and stabbed one of the Socs which was Bob.
- Johnny insisted that they cut their hair to disguise themselves, so Johnny bleached Ponyboy’s hair.
