James becomes king after Queen Elizabeth died with no heir. James believed in the divine rights of kings which led to problems with parliament.
King James passes and Charles becomes King. King Charles I believes in Divine Rights of Kings which the parliament did not agree with. King Charles beliefs caused the parliament to make Oliver Cromwell to start a civil war.
King Charles I was defeated by Oliver Cromwell in the civil war. Charles was publicly beheaded and became the first monarch to be beheaded in public. Cromwell became the new leader, which is also part of dictatorship.
Bill of rights
After Cromwell passed Charles II, Charles I son, was ruled king after parliament wanted to restore monarchy. Charles II worked well with the monarchy since he didn't believe in Divine Rights of King and created the Habeas Corpus Law.
King Charles II died without a heir so his brother James II took the throne. Although he didn't believe in Divine Right of Kings, he was catholic and parliament was worried about having a family line of Catholics since they didn't support it.
James II fled to France after he realized he had little support from England. William of Orange and Mary accepted England's offer to rule and created a bill of rights and they ruled and worked together to destroy the Divine Right of Kings
