  • At the beginning of the poem the Highwayman is riding on his horse to the old inn-door.
  • repetition-The highway man came riding-riding-riding, The highway man came riding up to the old inn-door
  • Next the highway man arrives at the inn and is tapping on the windows looking for Bess 
  • repetition- He whistled a tune into a window, and who should be waiting there but the land lords black eyed daughter Bess, the land lords black eyed daughter.
  • repetition- Then look for me by moonlight watch for me by moonlight i'll come to thee by moonlight, and he kissed it's waves in the moonlight 
  • Next the Highway man says that we will run away but i need to go steal some gold 
  • Next the Highway man leaves and Tom tells the red coats and they come and tie up Bess 
  • the repetition suggest the highway man riding to the old inn-door
  • repetition-A red coat troop came marching-marching-marching-king Georges men came marching 
  • repetition-Then her fingers moved in the moonlight shattered her breast in the moonlight and warned him with her death. 
  • Next Bess shoots herself for a warning to the Highway man
  • the repetition suggest that he loves the land lords black eyed daughter 
  • last at the end of the poem the highway man is chasing after the redcoats because they killed the land lords daughter Bess but gets shot.
  • The repetition suggest that the highway man loves the land lords daughter and he wants to run away with her
  • The repetition suggest the red coats coming 
  • The repetition suggest her dieing in the moonlight 
  •  the repetition suggest him chasing after the red coats but gets shot 
  • repetition- when they shot him down on the highway down like a dog on the highway and he lay in his blood on the highway
