The History of a Carbon Atom

The History of a Carbon Atom

Storyboard Text

  • Hello! I am the Carbon Atom, my life starts way back when inside a dinosaur as you can see :) I will eventually be found within fossilization.
  • I am now in a pile of rocks as the result of fossilization which was also caused by intense heat and composition .
  • My life has been going great! Here I am in the bonfire being burned in the combustion process.
  • The Carbon Atom begins inside a dinosaur which will be rediscovered 80 million years later, although the dinosaur has passed, the life of this atom has just begun!
  • The previous combustion reaches the plants where I am more then excited to preform photosynthesis!
  • The Carbon Atom has made its way to the woods where the cycle continues! From the fossilization, the result is the pile of rocks us humans use to cause fires and composition. The fossilization was created from the previous living dinosaur which was converted through the heat and compression.
  • Yay! My journey of being a carbon atom continues, this friendly deer and gets hungry. I was in the plants but now I have been consumed! In the carbon cycle, this is consumption.
  • In this strip, The Carbon Atom is experiencing combustion which is mostly caused by intense heat ie. humans bonfire. Combustion revolves around carbon being released from burning which is exactly whats happening with The Carbon Atom!
  • Wow! This is a big step, the deers breathing lets some of my carbon be let out through Cellular Respiration.
  • At this point in time, the C02 facing combustion now allows it to photosynthesizes. Now the plant has captured the particle and will begin the next stage :) PHOTOSYNTHESIS.
  • The Carbon Atom is at a key part of this cycle, the white tailed deer has received carbon through consumption now the carbon is inside the deer!
  • Now, a form of Cellular Respiration comes to play where the deer breathes where some CO2 is let out into the atmosphere!
