  • The containment policy was a military strategy to stop enemy expansion. George F. Kennan, a foreign service officer, developed the policy of "containment" the U.S. strategy for fighting the cold war with the Soviet Union.
  • The iron curtain speech was spoken by former prime minister Winston Churchill he stressed the need to for the U.S. and Britain to act as leaders of peace and stability against the menace of Soviet communism, therefore lowered an "iron curtain".
  • President Harry S. Truman established that the U.S, would provide political, military, and economic assistance to all democratic nations under threat from external or internal authoritarian forces.
