- The Whites get a monkey's paw with 3 wishes from Sergeant-Major Morris and they are careless about it so they use the first wish on the paw for 200 Pounds.
- Climax
- They meet a person from the company that Herbert (the white's son) works for and the person tells them that Herbert got caught in a machine and died. They got compensated 200 Pounds for his death from the company.
- Falling Action
- Mr. White wishes Herbert alive again after being convinced by Ms. White to wish him alive again. Mr. White is very scared of Herbert and his wife. He was hoping that the talisman had failed and Herbert didn't come back.
- Resolution
- Mr. White grew tired of the darkness so he went downstairs to light another candle. After that the knocking started and Mrs. White rushed downstairs to open the door but couldn't because she was not tall enough to reach the lock, so she had to get a chair to help her reach it.
- Mr. White rushed to the paw and used the final wish to make Herbert go away before Mrs. White could open the door, and the knocking disappeared.
- When Mrs. White finally managed to open the door, nobody was there. Mr. White also got the courage to check the door and when he went to the door there was nothing but cold wind and a flickering street lamp.
