Jackson The Tariff of 1828 is a great idea! These tariffs will make the united states more successful.
John Calhoun I oppose this, Jackson. Something has to be done to protect the state's rights.
We need to be able to nullify this law. It doesn't benifit us at all.
That's not fair to us farmers! Everything, foreign or domestic costs more for us!
I thought that once Jackson was elected, tariffs would be in the past. It doesn't look like he's helping the poor farmers now, but that's better for us!
But I don't think the south will stay quiet..
We are not afraid to cede from the union!
Clay what do I do?
The only way I see us going about this is lowering the tariffs Jackson. Not all at once, maybe gradually. But- we can pass a bill that will allow you to enforce those tariffs, The Force Bill. Both sides get something out of it.
I can live with that, but I think this compromise benefits me more!
