Don't talk to your elders like that!! Sorry about that, welcome back to Storytime with Sunshine.
You've gone senile!!
While he was in South America, Columbus began colonizing left and right. During this process, he attempted to convert the Native Americans into Christians. Then, he told Spain that if any of the slaves he gave them rejected their new lifestyle, their ears and their noses would be cut off. So, Columbus wasn't that great of a guy and he killed and kidnapped many Natives.
There was this Native American woman named Willow and she was pissed off. She had lived her life as this harmless creature, but after Columbus sent her family to rot in Spain she was ready to tear him to pieces. Even though she was angry, she knew that violence would only make it worse, so she devised a plan.
After gathering what was left of her tribe and spreading the message, they planned their grand escape.
We're leaving! Whether these Spanish rats like it or not! If they get in our way we'll fight! If we can't fight then can't take all of us!!
They left the night after she gave her speech. They didn't bring any torches with them so they didn't attract any attention. The guards were on watch, but the tribe had cut holes in their tents and climbed out the back and into the darkness they went. Some of the Natives got scared or lost faith and turned back, but the rest were determined to live in peace. Even if they didn't know where they were going.
No one knows what happened to Willow and her tribe that night, but I would've given anything to see Columbus' face the next morning. Anyways, now you know the story of Christopher Columbus and his discovery of the "New World."
