Storyboard Text

  • Flu season is almost here, have you gotten your vaccine?
  • No, I don't trust vaccines.
  • Vaccines are only weakened or dead versions o a disease.
  • It's that even safe?
  • Of course it is. The vaccine is purified during manufacturing to kill the toxins the bacteria produces
  • How is it even manufactured?
  • First, a virus is weakened, then grown in a lab. Then the virus is released from the cell and isolated from the material that causes it to grow.
  • Then what?
  • After that, the virus is purified of all toxins, then is is strengthened enough to produce an immune response.
  • OK, so what makes vaccines work?
  • When injected into the body, the weakened virus triggers an immune response in the body. This means the body recognizes the antigen and builds antibodies, so when the real virus is introduced the body can fight it
  • I guess I'm getting a flu shot then.
