Crossing the Threshold

Call to Adventure
Beowulf had heard about the Grendal- a monster who for 12 years hunted Heorot Hall. The Danes needed a hero, prayed for you. Along came Beowulf with his men.
"...and salutes your arrival from across the sea. You are free now to move forward To meet Hrothgar..." (394-396)
Beuwolf had crossed the sea from Geatland to Denmark. He wants to help King Hrothgar protect the Danes from Grendal. Beowulf is crossing the threshold.
"...God-cursed Grendal came greedily loping. The bane of the race of men roamed forth, Hunting for a prey in the high hall..." (711-713)
Grendal comes into the Heorot Hall and finally Beowulf was Abel to meet with Grendal. Beowulf vows to kill off the monster.
