During Carnival in Italy, Montresor coincidentally runs into Fortunato, and says he has Amontillado wine for him to try. The bottle is in the catacombs under his mansion. Fortunato seems sick, it's very late at night.
OH NO! He tricked me!
The narrator, Montresor, says that Fortunato has badly insulted him and claims to get his revenge. Montresor never says what Fortunato had said to insult him.
Montresor gets Fortunato to follow him to the catacombs. Montresor keeps asking Fortunato if he wants to turn back, but he says no and drinks wine to help his sickness.
HA HA HA! I have carried out my revenge!
When they get deep in the catacombs there is no Amontillado. Montresor handcuffs Fortunato to the wall and starts to wall it up with bricks.
The last couple bricks are being played by Montresor. Fortunato is yelling at Montresor to stop, but Montresor had gotten his revenge.
Montresor walks away and all that he hears is Fortunato's bells jingle. He then replaces the bones back where they were and forever locking Fortunato in his catacombs forever. He has gotten away with his revenge.
