BNW Chapter 1- A Tour of the Central London Hatchery and Conditioning Center
The Director leads a group of young students on a tour of the center, showing and explaining to them how thousands of identical humans are artificially created through Bokanovsky’s process, stressing the social advantage of the process. “"Can't you see? Can't you see?" He raised a hand; his expression was solemn. "Bokanovsky's Process is one of the major instruments of social stability!”” (Huxley 5). Continuing his in-depth tour, the Director explains predestination. “Coolness was wedded to dis- comfort in the form of hard X-rays. By the time they were decanted the embryos had a horror of cold. They were predestined to emigrate to the tropics, to be miner and acetate silk spinners and steel workers” (Huxley 11).
