  • The bill of rights was very important during this time. Citizens loved it because it was giving them many rights, and they attended the meeting and everything in support of their freedom.

  • The American Citizens hoped to have the same rights as the citizens who are living in England, And that they were treated equal.

  • In U.S. history, many people were forced into a religion. For example, slaves. They were forced to go to church even though they didn't support that religion. But, some people like Roger Williams and Anne Hutchinson were exiled for preaching that people should worship however they like.
  • Martin Luther, a preacher, challenged the practices of the church and new denominations of Christianity formed, and he also protested the authority of the pope. This led to the rise of individualism and rejection of traditional authority by colonists coming to America.
  • Protestant ReformationThe reformers rejected the authority of the pope as well as many of the principles and practices of Catholicism of that time. The essential tenets of the Reformation are that the Bible is the sole authority for all matters of faith and conduct and that salvation is by God's grace and by faith in Jesus Christ.
  • The new practices encourgaed a lot of new things in the colonists that they probably thought they couldn't get before. The 3 main things were liberty, equality, and self-reliance.
