In the beginning, the boys worked together as well as making things right for themselves. In this scene this is when Ralph and Piggy finds the conch. They then show Jack their cool find.

In this part of the book, this is when the two groups split up. They split up because Jack gets offended when Ralph says his hunters would be no match for the beast. Jack then grabs the conch and calls for an assembly. Whenever the conch is in their hands, all is well.
Savagery - War Paint - Middle
In the end of the book, the boys hear the sound of the rock falling which turned out to be the conch. The conch represents civilization and without it, It creates chaos and savagery.

In the beginning, the boys when they wear the face paint, They feel very different and powerful. Ralph believes they are wasting their time painting their face.
In the middle of the book, all the boys on the island while they are wearing the war paint, they forget about their responibilies and let the fire go out, which represents the savagery in them.
I feel like I am forgetting something...
In the end of the book, the boys use the war paint to almost conceal themselves from their identity being known. When they would wear the war paint they would act way different then their normal selves.
