In the story "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street" the theme is don't trust anyone. In the first scene, it supports the theme by showing how Goodman could no longer trust his neighbors and his neighbor's couldn't trust him. Goodman couldn't trust his neighbors because they accused him of being and alien and he didn't feel safe. His neighbors couldn't trust him because they believed that he was an alien. In the second scene, it supports the theme because after hearing what Tommy said about their neighbors they started to believe him. They started accusing everyone of not being who they said they were. In the last scene, it supports the theme because people were unsure what Steve was working on. They said he was talking to the aliens through his radion. In conclusion, they really couldn't trust anyone on Maple Street.
