  • Virginia Plan
  • The plan was drafted  by james madison while he waited for quorum to asemble at The  constitutional convention  of 1787.
  • New Jersey plan
  • The plan called  for each state to have one vote in Congress instead of the number  of votes being based on population.
  • The great compromise
  • Established s bicameral legislature with the U.S House of Representatives apportined by population  as desired by the Virginia plan  and the senate granted equal votes per state as desired by the New Jeresey Plan.
  • Nourthern States
  • The Three-Fifths compromise outlined the process for states to count slaves as part of the  population in order to determine representation  and taxation  for the federal governmet.
  • Southern States
  • The Three-Fifths compromise gave southern states disproportionate representation in the House of Representatives relative to free states, thereby helping the southern states to preserve slavery.
  • 3/5 compromise
  • Northerners and Sourtherners went to grat lengths to find a way to make slavery work
