Sure thing Heather, what do you need to know?
Hey Bestie, I have a question... my teacher taught me about the vernier caliper but... I don't understand it too well.. Can you help me?
Well, what is the vernier caliper exactly?
The Vernier Caliper are used in scientific laboratories and in manufactories for quality control measurements. It consists of internal jaws, external jaws, main arm, slidng arm, depth measuring probe and locking screw.
My Dad works in mechanical engineering so I would know a thing or two lol
The S.D cannot be found as it has two scales but the range is mostly 300mm
Oh wow! Well that is interesting.. so what is the SD and Range? I heard my teacher mention that
It can measures a gear and a beaker
So what can the venier caliper measure?
Fascinating... how do you get the reading for the vernier caiiper?
You can get the reading by first looking at the main scale. Whatever number falls before the 0 on the vernier scale is your first measurement
Add those measurements up and you get your final reading.
Secondly, look at the vernier scale. Whatever line on that scale lines up with the line on the main scale is your second measurement.
Can you give me an example
Here is two examples, the main scale reading is 3.50mm and therefore since it lines directly at 0 we can leave it as 3.50mm
Next example, the main scale is 4.60mm and the vernier scale is 0.09mm. Add them together and you get 4.69mm
Gosh.. thank you. Now my mother woudn't beat me for failing physics again.
A...AGAIN?
hope you ready for those licks because...
Now, the vernier caiiper has three scales with a range of 1000cm?
Yup! But thanks to you I get to pass and be as successful as Ben Carson
