Good Morning Class, so for today lesson we will be tackling about the heat in the earth's interior
The heat from when the planet formed,The heat from the decay of radioactive elements.
The interior of Earth is very hot for this two main reasons
The Earth was formed by the process of accretion. Meteorites gravitationally attracted each other and formed bigger objects, which attracted bigger masses. This accumulated a lot of heat, which is why our hands get hot when we hold a hammer too long. It represents about 10% of the total heat inside the Earth.
The Earth produces most of its own heat - about 90% of the total heat inside the Earth. The main source of heat is the decay of radioactive elements like 238U (Uranium) or 40K (Potassium). These unstable elements stabilise with time and produce daughter products, which we call daughter products.
Thank you ma'am, we've really learned a lot. Goodbye.
If there is no more question then let's end this discussion, thank you students and goodbye.
