After a hard day's work, Ant decided to head back to his anthill before it got dark. On the way, he saw a large red apple lying on the ground. He thought of bringing it with him for the colony, but the sun was setting soon.
When Ant entered the anthill, everyone seemed to have a troubled look. He decided to ask what was wrong, and they told him the colony had run out of food. It was almost night, and it would be too dark to look for food, but if there's no food, they would never last until morning.
Ant remembered the apple he saw on his way back home, so he decided to venture out and try to bring it back. Some of the other ants volunteered to come with him, but he declined for their safety. The sun was beginning to set, but he knew where to go.
Ant finally reached the apple, and it remained exactly how it was before. He tried to lift it, but it was too heavy. He even thought of wedging himself underneath, but he would be crushed by the large fruit. Ant worried for his colony more than he ever had, because he knew they were going to starve.
Suddenly, two other ants emerged from the darkness, and Ant knew immediately they were from his colony. He asked what they were doing here, and they told him they followed him in case he needed help. Then, all three ants hoisted the apple up on their backs, and headed home.
That night, all of the ants in the colony feasted on the apple. They all thanked Ant for his bravery, but he simply responded, "I couldn't have done it without the help of my team," and it was true.
