  • This is where the narrator begins telling his story to his cell mate since he was found sane so he was sent to jail. He told his cell mate about how he had a diseases but still loved the old man, however he though that the old man had an evil eye. Because he thought that the old man had an evil eye he decided to kill him. 
  • Climax
  • The narrator has finally decided to take the life of the old man just so that he could get rid of his so called evil eye.
  • Falling Action
  • Every night about midnight the narrator stalks the old man and watches him while he is asleep. He opens a lantern slightly not enough for the man to wake up but enough for the narrator to watch the old mans eye. 
  • Resolution
  • Finally the narrator threw the lantern open, dragged the old man onto the floor, picked up the bed, and suffocated the old man to death with the bed.  
  • The narrator now chops up the body in the bathtub. After the body is chopped up, he hides it under the floorboard.
  • At the end of the story the narrator invites the police to sit down. However, he starts to lose his mind and ends up telling the police and showing them the dead body.
