- The Union was a group of states that stayed together and didn't break away.
- The confederacy was a group of southern states that broke away because they wanted to own slaves.
- Lincoln's thought on slavery was that it shouldn't been allowed. His thought on blacks is that blacks should be freed.
- The emancipation proclamation was when Lincoln declared to free the slaves and the main purpose was that it granted slaves freedom.
- The emancipation proclamation affected the motives of fighting in the civil war because at first Lincoln wanted to win the civil war but also he wants to free the slaves.
- The understanding of the civil war and abolition is important for minorities because one example segeration if that never ended in the first place we can still have segregation not just in schools but everywhere.
