In 1965, Nicolae Ceausescu and his wife Elena started a very dictorial regime in Romania. He ruled Romania very harshly and used secret police to take care of all distress. He wanted to rule all of Romania in a communistic way.
Ceausescu's policies led to economic drop off, in living standards, food conditions, and poor land. He wanted to urbanize Romania, so he sent people to bulldoze villages and farms. This led to Romanian citizens into an angry state.
Many Romanian citizens ignited flames and revolted against Ceausescu. The secret police murdered thousands of peaceful demonstrators. Ceausescu and his wife were finally captured and executed on December 22 and a new and different government was formed.
