The cause of the American Revolution started with the colonists acting out. They did this because the British were raising taxes and treating them unfairly.

Colonists wanted freedom and wanted to change their government to republicanism. They wanted the people to have a voice in the decision making, this would include voting and citizens running for political positions.
While crossing the Delaware River, Washington read them a speech in hopes to encourage them for the attack ahead. While the Hessians were celebrating the holiday, Washington and his army attacked cause a lot of damage as to who was going to win.

After getting ahead of the British, the Americans had an advance with the help of the French. They eventually got the British kicked out of what they called the United States.
After the American Revolution, America had a lot of debt to pay off. As colonists were busy paying off bills, officials were planning what they were going to have to do to finish paying off debt.
