  • Phillis Wheatley is recognized by George Washington the Continental Army commander and gets invited to visit him at his headquarters.

  • Once Susannah passed away Phillis got her papers to be a free woman.

  • She and her husband John live in poverty with her one living child. Soon Phillis and her child both get ill and pass away. Her husband publishes her poetry and her legacy is remembered.
