  • The Cockroach  By: Emily Redding and Gabby Travis 3rd hour HBS 2.2.1 the Neuron
  • OMG! NO!
  • I must save this poor cockroaches life and take him back outside!!
  • motor cortex
  • whats goin on in my brain?
  • Association neurons
  • occipital lobe
  • The moment you walk down the stairs you see a cockroach with your eyes.
  • Come here cockroach. Let me return you to your family.
  • After you spot the cockroach your sensory neurons start to carry the image of the bug to be handled by the occipital lobe.
  • Now, I will take you outside and return you to your family.
  • Now the association neurons in the brain carry the message from our sensory neurons to the motor cortex.
  • YAY!! My cockroach has been returned to his family.
  • Next up our motor cortex sends a message to our motor neurons telling us to pick up the cockroach. Our motor neurons then cause us to begin to move our arm towards the bug.
  • Now our motor neurons are not only causing us to move our arm, but they are causing us to move our hand to pick up the cockroach.
  • Last but not least our hand carries out our message and we carry the cockroach all the way out to the grass to safety.
