  • The windmills were the technological innovation.  The effect of the industry was some ranchers that had expanded to quickly had caused overgrazing. Also, years of heavy use of the land had stripped the grass and damaged the soil. These new trends also limited job opportunities for cowboys.

  • Refinery is one of the many scientific innovations that happened during that time. It’s job was to make crude oil, refined, or made pure and then made into various products. The oil refined in Corsicana was used to lubricate machinery.

  • Railroads promised cheap, fast and reliable transportation. It took less than two hours at a 35-mile trip, unlike travel by horses. Railroad transportation  was cheap to also ship supplies.

  • With large quantities of oil being produced, oil prices dropped. Also, it made a growth for the economy called “boom-and-bust cycle”. Which caused alternating periods of growth and depression in an industry or economy.
