The main conflict of the story was about an adult, Mrs. Jones, who respects people and the law and a boy, Roger, who wanted to steal money to buy the Blue Suede shoes he wanted.
The climax of Thank You Ma'am is when the door is open in Mrs. Jones' apartment, but Roger still doesn't leave.
