Storyboard Text

  • What does the problem look like?
  • Hey Dad I need help on my homework.
  • This can easily be solved with Pythagorean Theorem
  • It looks like this.
  • I'll show you just follow me.
  • 8
  • 6
  • Ok
  • First you need to know that the white sides are legs labeled with A and B. The order doesn't matter on these. The red is the hypotenuse labeled with C.
  • If you only have one leg and the hypotenuse then you subtract the leg from the hypotenuse and find the square root of what's left
  • After knowing about the legs and hypotenuse it's as easy as plugging the numbers into the formula. a2 + b2 = c2
  • So it would be 8^2 + 6^2 = C^2?
  • 8
  • 6
  • Perfect! Now just multiply and solve.
  • Ok so lets see    8*8=64    6*6=36 36+64=100
  • Thanks Dad now I understand!
  • What do I do with 100?
  • Well since 100 is C^2 you just have to find the square root of 100 so the hypotenuse is 10. 8^2+6^2=10^2
