  • The Boston Massacre
  • The Quartering Act allowed the British soldiers to stay in the colonists homes. The colonists had to provide food for them and take care of them. This law made the colonists very angry.
  • The Boston Tea Party
  • The British leaders thought that the colonists should help pay for the troops who were protecting them. The stamp act said that the colonists would have to pay tax on printed paper. In March 1766, Parliament repealed the law.
  • The intolerable Acts
  • In 1770, the colonists were still angry that the British soldiers were living in the towns and cities. The soldiers took jobs away from the colonists.  One day the colonists showed their hate for the British soldiers by calling them names like lobster back because of their red coats. 
  • After the Boston Masssacre, the British government replaced all the unpopular taxes on the colonists exepet for the tax on tea. The Tea Act also lowered the cost of tea but it still made the colonists very angry. The colonists protested, they through British tea in the water.
  • After The Boston Tea Party parliament punished the colonists by passing several new laws. One law, closed the Boston harbor until the tea was paid for. In 1774, leaders from 12 colonies gathered in Philadelphia to discuss the problems with Britan.
