Suddenly, I heard a trace of faint footsteps behind me. I took a quick glance but I couldn’t spot anyone in particular. Showing indifference, I shrugged my shoulders and retorted to walking back on my path but the figure traced behind me subtly.
He was following me. Who is this man and what could he possibly want? My body swiveled backwards as I saw a slender and tall man behind me.
My feeble eyes were trying to discern this person behind me but I no longer had my optical lens to aid me. He leaned against my building as he now captivated my interest. Then I heard an extremely familiar and distinctive voice.
I was not Jekyll today and did not expect for Utterson to be waiting for me when I got home from my escapades. He sounded like his usual self, very composed and unexpressive, but there was a slight tone of anticipation, as if he was waiting for me.
Once the soft moonlight revealed his physical presence, I dashed towards my door trying to avoid any form of interaction with him. I quickly drew the key from my pocket waiting to rush inside.
However, while I was opening the lock, I felt a soft tap on my shoulder as Utterson revealed himself to be right behind me.
