Farmers decided to go home after the American Revolution so they could use the money from the war to pay for their land.
Alright, pack it up. We won't punish you if you just stop.
It turns out though that the money given to them by the government was worthless. The farmers were arrested and their land was taken away.
AAAAARRRGGG!!! We're going to fight
The farmers decided to protest about it. They tried negotiating with the government; they wrote a list of complaints and reforms. The farmers also blocked the courthouse so judges could not enter. The farmers were lead by Daniel Shay.
So that did not work out.
Let's think of a way to prevent this from happening!
The government told them to stop, but the farmers did not listen.
Shay's army went and found the place where weapons were kept so that they could fight the army. They fought, but then Shay's army retreated in fear of being caught.
The protesters did not ever get punished, and it showed how weak the Articles of Confederation were weak, since they could not have a national court and neither could they form a federal army. So they wanted to make a new better government.
