The witches said that I am going to be the king soon. That means I will have to kill Duncan... No. That's crazy! But the prophecy says it is so!
ACT I, SCENE III
Macbeth will be the Thane of Cawdor.
Macbeth will be the Thane of Glamis.
Macbeth will be the king someday.
And your children will be kings, Banquo, but you never will be.
Macbeth, why do you appear so afraid? The witches told you that you were going to hold a lot of authority!
Well, I suppose if the prophecy states that I must kill Duncan, it will happen. I will not pursue it, but if it is fate and fate wills it to be so, then so be it. Fate shall take its course and I shall follow. But how could I possibly be the Thane of Cawdor?
How could I possibly be the new Thane of Cawdor if he is still alive?
Greetings, Macbeth: Thane of Cawdor! My name is Angus.
He is still alive, yes. He has been sentenced to death by the king and you shall have his title.
