Text to Text Connection
The setting shows that a girl named Liesel is in Nazi Germany, playing with her friend Rudy. Liesel is very familar with the town and alot of people know her. It is snowy so you can tell that everyone is bundled up and ready for the winter.
"The Book Theif" by Marcus Zusak is about friendship and reveals to always remember what you have. Liesels friend Rudy died and she understood then how much she appreciated him. Liesel then cries after she realizes how much her best friend means to her and there is nobody who could replace him.
"Five Feet Apart" and "The Book Thief" are alike because they both have a main character losing someone important to them. In "Five Feet Apart" Stella loses Will. In "The Book Theif" Liesel loses Rudy. This shows that Rudy and Will mean alot to both Liesel and Stella.
The universal conflict is communism. Liesel is a communist and she gets judged for it. The conflict is man vs. society because everyone is for the Nazi's and against Liesel.
I think that the mood is a somber time. Fear is in the air in Nazi, Germany where their is death, sadness, and war. An example of this is in the beginning of the book when the angel of death says," Here is a small fact, you are going to die."
