Storyboard Text

  • My surface may look like this because of the pebbles and pieces of sediment that have been pressed together.
  • The sediment now has been carried downstream by the river...
  • I am being weathered by the wind, rain, ice, and gravity. Now I will become sediment.
  • Now that the sediment has been compacted and my layers have compressed to become a sedimentary rock.
  • Now I have been pushed deep below the earth's surface...here, I will be exposed to extreme heat and pressure. I am now metamorphic rock.
  • Now this whole process could start again! I could be weathered into sediment or exposed to heat and pressure under the earth's surface.
  • The metamorphic rock has melted and lava has erupted onto the earth's surface, here it will cool quickly and I will become an extrusive igneous rock.
  • Inside the earth's surface, magma will cool slowly and form intrusive igneous rock...
